Facelift Harley Street, London from £2,000
As we age our skin progressively loses its elasticity and our muscles tend to relax. The effect of stresses of daily life, and the ongoing effects of gravity, exposure to sun and general wear and tear all take their toll on our face. At Elanic London we believe that we can help you achieve a more youthful look with one of our facelift surgical techniques.
In many cases aging of the skin of the face does not reflect the rate that the rest of our body and mind is ageing and many people despair that the face they see in the mirror is the face of someone who looks older than. Another contributory factor is substantial weight loss or yo-yo dieting which can produce similar changes in facial appearance to those of the aging process.
If you recognise yourself in the description above then the team at Elanic London are well placed to advise you on how best to address your specific issues so call us today to book an appointment with one of our consultants
Who will benefit from a facelift?
The best candidates for face lift surgery are in their 40’s to 60’s, but facelifts can be done successfully on people in their 70’s or 80’s. A good outcome from facial surgery is that you look younger, more vital and cheerful, it should not be obvious that you have had surgery. At Elanic London we have found that it is a procedure that works well with a positive effect on morale and increases the individual’s self-esteem.
A facelift may be carried out in a hospital if patients prefer a general anaesthetic, however at Elanic London we are seeing a majority of patients wishing the procedure done under local anaesthetic and sedation. The procedure can be done as a standalone procedure but in many cases it is combined with other operations, the most common being a brow lift and possibly eyelid surgery.
The incision lines follow the natural crease, in front of the ear and normally extend into the hairline above and behind the ear. Then the platysma muscle ( the large neck muscles) and its attached muscle structures (SMAS) are sutured tightly in front and behind the ear as an essential providing a sling under the chin.
The skin around the mid face and cheeks is tightened and sutured in place when the incisions are closed and as required excess skin may be remove prior to closure
Fat along the jaw line and under the chin may also be removed by liposuction or on occasion through an incision under the chin during the procedure to give the optimal result.
After your surgery there is usually some bruising of the cheeks and due to the effects of gravity this tends to descend into the neck. Discomfort is usually mild and can be controlled with non-prescription pain relief. It is normal for there to be some numbness of the skin of the cheeks and ears. This will usually disappear in a few weeks or months. It is better to keep the head elevated for a couple of days to reduce swelling.
Directly after the surgery you will be required to wear a facial compression garment for a few days which aids skin recovery and maintains a consistent pressure on deep tissues to lessen the chances of common post-op complications.
At the beginning your face will look a little puffy and may feel rather strange and stiff. The scars can be very well hidden, especially by women with their hair and larger earrings so that they should be able to resume work and social activities within a couple of weeks. Camouflage make-up can be helpful in masking bruising.
At Elanic London we believe it is key that patients do their research and talk to a reputable surgeon with an established practice in facial surgery as there are many variables and options when considering a facelift and associated procedures. Our Team will be able to assist you with any questions you may have and advise on the best solution to give you the outcome you desire.
